We would like to congratulate all of the students here for having their artwork selected for the first of our Y9 Gallery Showcases.
This year we have modified our Y9 curriculum based on student feedback and a review of our KS3 priorities – aiming to balance technique and creativity in skill-based mini projects. We are so pleased with the way that the students are responding we felt it was important to share their efforts.
Drawing from observation was the focus for some classes, studying a variety of ordinary objects e.g. a tool, a pencil, a bottle. Some have taken their skills one step further and developed their drawings into creative outcomes. Sculpture was the focus of other classes - using simple materials to create interesting 3D forms.
We will showcase another collection of artworks when the next series of mini-projects is completed.
