More than 2,000 years ago, travelers would write about incredible sights they had seen on their journeys. Over time, seven of those places made history as the "wonders of the ancient world." In 2000, a campaign was launch to determine the New Seven Wonders of the World as only Pyramids of Giza of the original list is still standing. The final results were finally announced in 2007.

This "seven wonders" list celebrates monumental engineering and construction feats of the 20th century. It was chosen by the American Society of Civil Engineers in 1994.

The 7 Natural Wonders of the World represent some of the most awe-inspiring and remarkable features that our planet has to offer. These wonders are a testament to the Earth’s incredible diversity and the forces of nature that have shaped its landscapes over millennia. They are Aurora Borealis (The Northern Lights), Grand Canyon, Great Barrier Reef, Harbor Of Rio De Janeiro, Mount Everest, Paricutin Volcano and Victoria Falls.
Mountains are formed by plate tectonics - slow but gigantic movements of the earth's crust (the outer layer of the Earth). The Earth's crust is made up of 6 huge pieces called plates, which fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. When two pieces of the earth's crust smash into each other the land can be pushed upwards or in other directions, forming mountains.
