Frida Kahlo suffered much pain and tragedy during her life.  Difficult events in her life included a terrible accident causing serious injuries from which she never fully recovered, the heartbreak of finding she could not bear children, time spent living in America where she was deperately homesick and a troubled marriage to Diego Rivera.

Some of Kahlo's paintings depict the grief, pain and trauma she was suffering.
