What are the different movie ratings?

GENERAL
Suitable for all ages

PARENTAL GUIDANCE
Suitable for all, but parents should guide their young.

PARENTAL GUIDANCE 12
Video release suitable suitable for 12 years and over.

PARENTAL GUIDANCE 13
Suitable for person aged 13 and above but parental guidance is advised for children below 13.

PARENTAL GUIDANCE 15
Suitable only for 15 years and above but parental guidance is advised for children below 15.

NO CHILDREN UNDER 16
Suitable for persons aged 16 and above.

MATURE 18
Suitable for persons aged 18 and above

RESTRICTED 21
Suitable for adults aged 21 and above.

With the different ratings you will know which movie is appropriate for your age. Movie ratings are based on BBFC and MDA.

How to locate a DVD?

Go to the DVD area and locate the movie you are looking for using the call number you found. The fastest way to locate a fiction DVD is by Rating.

How to read a call number?

NF MUC    =   NF (Nofiction) MUC (First 3 letters of the movie title)
[PG]               [PG] (Rating)

Where can I find the DVDs?

DVDs can be found in the Interactive Zone of the Senior Library. They are located near the Self-Check machines.

What are the different Foreign films?

We have the following foreign films that can be identified by the different coloured sticker:

 

SPANISH

GERMAN

FRENCH and CHINESE

OTHER LANGUAGES

How to search for DVDs in our library OPAC?

Search for DVDs in our library opac using the title of the movie or search by keyword, add the term DVD to your search (e.g Harry Potter DVD).

Once you found the title you are looking for, write down the call number.

Tips for Searching Infiniti for DVDs:

  • Locate your DVD in the result list and know the DVD Holding status such as:

             - Branch - Senior School
             - Location & rating - F ECL [PG12] - call number
             - Loan Status - On Shelf

  • You can also add the term videorecording or documentary film or the language of film for foreign film (e.g. FRENCH dvd)

How many DVDs can I borrow?

Students can borrow maximum of four (4) DVDs for 14 days. Please note that AV materials are not renewable except for Year 12-13 Students.
