Academic Honesty: Turnitin

Information about Academic Honesty, compiled by your Librarians

What is Turnitin?

Turnitin is web-based software which is used to detect plagiarism.

Turnitin is designed to:

  • allow teachers to recognise when students are plagiarising
  • enable students to better understand plagiarism
Turnitin checks student work against a huge archive of over 220 million student papers, over 90,000 journals, periodicals and books and over 20 billion web pages.  The software will identify the original source of material included within any piece of work. Tanglin Trust School offers students the opportunity to use Turnitin to check their work.
